What you'll learn: What to check when sign-in isn't working.
MyFamilyStory supports two ways to sign in: email + password and Google.
Signing in with your email address
The log in page asks for your email first, then your password.
- Type your email address and click Continue.
- Enter your password on the next step.
Forgot your password?
- On the password step, click Forgot password?
- Enter your email address.
- We'll email you a reset link. It usually arrives within a few minutes — check your spam and promotions folders if you don't see it.
If you see "Check your email"
Your account hasn't been confirmed yet. We sent a confirmation link to your email address — click it to finish signing in. If it never arrived, click Resend email on that screen.
If you're asked for a 6-digit code
You have two-factor authentication turned on. Open your authenticator app and enter the current 6-digit code. If you can't reach your authenticator app, you can enter one of your recovery codes instead.
Signing in with Google
- Click Continue with Google on the log in page and pick your account.
Things to try
- Use the same method you signed up with. Signing in with Google when you originally registered with an email address and password will create a separate account instead of getting you back into your old one.
- Check your spam and promotions folders for our reset or confirmation email.
- Clear your browser cookies and try again, or open a private/incognito window.
- Turn off any VPN or browser extension that blocks third-party cookies — these can interrupt the sign-in redirect.
- Try a different browser.
Heads up: If you use a work Google account, your organization's IT policy may block third-party sign-in. Try your personal account instead.
